Jason earns no commissions, accepts no referral fees, and holds no financial relationship with any contractor or equipment brand at any service tier. The fee you pay directly is the only revenue he receives. That is not a policy — it is the structure of the business.

Before You Hire an Independent Consultant

Honest answers to the questions homeowners ask most before working with Jason.

Because contractor quotes answer one question: "How much does this contractor want to charge?" They do not answer the questions that actually protect you — Is this equipment the right size? Are the quotes based on the same scope? Did the contractor run the numbers, or guess? How much of this quote is margin? The Tier 2 Scope of Work is specifically designed to make all quotes comparable. Without it, you are comparing apples to entirely different fruit, and there is no way to know which quote represents good value and which represents a 40% margin.

Every tier is available as a standalone service. If you already have a design and just need a second set of eyes on competing bids, Tier 3 is the right call. If your project is nearly done and you want independent commissioning verification before you make your final payment, Tier 4 stands alone. You do not have to start at the beginning or commit to the full process to work with Jason — you can engage at the point in your project where independent expertise adds the most value for you.

No — and that separation is the entire point. Jason designs the system, vets the contractors, and oversees the work. A licensed HVAC contractor performs the installation. This is not a limitation; it is the structure that makes the independence guarantee possible. The moment Jason is also in the installation business, his advice about which system to buy and which contractor to hire becomes compromised. Keeping those roles separate is what allows him to work entirely for you.

A second contractor opinion is still a sales call. The contractor giving you that opinion wants your business — which means they have financial incentives to tell you the first quote was wrong in ways that favor their own proposal. Jason is not selling the equipment, not performing the installation, and not receiving any compensation from whoever eventually does. His only financial relationship is with you, which means his analysis of competing proposals is the one analysis in the room with no stake in the outcome. That is a structural difference, not a degree difference.

The Building Performance Report is yours. You paid for it, it reflects your home accurately, and you are free to use it however you choose — share it with a contractor, keep it on file, or use it if you revisit the project in two years. There is no obligation to engage any additional tier. Tier 1 is designed to give you complete information about your home and your options so you can make a good decision — not to lock you into a relationship. If the report tells you that you do not need new equipment yet, that is worth knowing. If it tells you the right next step is a modest repair rather than a full replacement, that is worth knowing too.
